That's not a retirement. That would be a buyout. If he gave up a chunk (up to all) of what he's guaranteed, the Kings could simply waive him and let him go.
If he just retired, the Kings could request that FIBA enforce the contract and clear him to sign anywhere else.

I've never seen a player give up that kind of money in a buyout. That's why the situation is a little weird. That's a lot of money to simply walk away from.

Can you explain a bit more what happens if he retires from his contract?Can he just pay a logical amount of money and leave?
Keith SmithSo with him wanting to go back to Europe and Kings wanting this to not affect their cap space,wouldn't that be the most possible scenario?
